Sounds FTP site

Hi!
I am in need of an FTP site that carries sound files. Specifically, I
need sounds like lazer shots, space ships and the like. I want to put
audio tracks to some animations I’ve rendered (mostly Space things), and
I didn’t find a good site yet…

Help would be very much apreciated..

TIA, Hans-Joerg.

Animator for Hire

I’m an animator looking for work and I recently designed my
portfolio into a web page at http://augdev.com/nate .  I’m a
graduate from the Art Institute of Philadelphia and have a year’s
experience in coin-op game graphics,  but would like to get into
something more story and content oriented.  Please check out my
page ( my resume can be found thier as well ) and email me at
nath…@vsi.net for more info or if you would like to see a copy
of my demo reel.

Thanks for your time.

Scala Tutorial in AUI

Well, the good news is, there is a 2 part Scala tutorial running in Amiga
User International magazine….I’m happy about that, since I wrote it.

The bad news is, it contains an error.  I’m sad about that, as I wrote it :(

Last month, in part 1, you were told to type out a sample paragraph and save
it as an ascii file….unfortunately, prior to printing the text was
refomatted in a fashion which will cause it to fail to load properly in
part 2.

The paragraph, under the subhead ‘Cannon Fodder’, ought to be formatted as
follows:

1) Question….
a) possible answer…
b) optional reply…
c) or maybe this is right…
d) none of the above…
e) etc…

AUI and I are both sorry for any inconvenience, and hope no nervous
breakdowns have resulted.  Simply reformatting your textfile in this manner
should solve any problem your having…well,it may not cure the common
cold, but you catch my drift.

In Scala: text lines cut off…

I’ve noticed this in the past couple of days in Scala MM300:

Sometimes when I display or play back a screen that has some lines of text
typed on it (plain background), part of a line of text might be cut off
along the bottom.  Sometimes this happens, sometimes it doesn’t.  When it
happens, sometimes pressing "Show" will make it reappear properly.

It doesn’t seem to be related to what characteristics I choose for the
text (i.e. bold, italics, shadow, outline, etc.).  Last time I noticed
this I was using a FuturaX font (the one that came with Scala MM300).  I’m
not sure if it has anything to do with the positioning (vertically) of the
line of text either…

Can anyone share some ideas on what’s causing this?

Please e-mail me…

Thanks.

audio?

Okay, so I’ve got a fair bit of video-related stuff now on my Amiga 3000,
and I love it so far.  (No toaster, since it stopped working when I put in
3.1 roms, I sold it.)  I can genlock, do simple switching, and all the fun
stuff.  So, now what about the audio?  The stuff I’ve done in the past
I’ve never needed to switch or mix audio, since most of it was animation
related and audio was added later.

So what’s the best way to switch audio while switching video?  A couple of
companies made audio switchers for the toaster (using the gpi trigger? not
sure how).  What are some other methods?  I could ostensibly do it with
scala because I’m lucky enough to have a Tascam mixer which is midi
controllable, but it’d be a complicated affair.  What if I’m using myLAD
or creating my own wipes?  What are some of the other options?  (I should
add that budgetary concerns are very high and also I’m mainly trying to
understand what’s technically involved in having the computer switch the
audio.

Thanks in advance.
