Where the Hell is SCALA Tech support?

This is the fourth week of my trying to contact SCALA.

The first week was spent leaving voice mail for Ray Mellum at SCALA
US. When a week’s worth of calling every day  was not rewarded, I
finally told the phone receptionist " I’ve been asking for Amiga tech
support for a week, and leaving voice mail. I got no response. What’s
happening?" to which she replied. "Oh! Ray is no longer with the
company."

In consternation, I informed her that I really didn’t care if I talked
to "Ray" or not, I just needed to talk to _a_ technician. She went
offline and consulted a superior, then came back to tell me that US
support would only be available via e-mail.

Well, OK, I can use e-mail. So I sent a message to this newsgroup and
to
suppot.am…@scala.us.com

After a week with no response, I sent again. Still nothing. A week
later, I called agian. New receptionist. I explained carefully all
that had happened, and she assured me that I would be called back
later that day.

I was not. We repeated the same conversation the next day, and the
next, that being one week ago. During that final conversation, I was
forwarded to one of the PC version support techs, who told me that no
one was checking the amiga support address. He told me that I could
call Oslo (I refrained from telling him where he could go) or wirte to
the UK tech support address.

This I have done. It hasn’t quite been a week (the mail message went
out Monday 6/16), but with no response, I’m getting jumpy. I realize
that Scala UK is probably getting dumped on, but I would really
appreciate any ancknolwedgement that my messages are getting through.

Thanks,

Pat Santucci

Scripter with Laserdisk chapter?

Well, I am in need of a multimedia script program which supports
accessing a laserdisc (Pioneer brand, if that matters) by chapters
instead of only by frame number, which is all AmigaVision Pro can.
Any suggestions?

Hey there.

It was on compuserve. and the manuals can be bought from Blue Ribbon (don’t
have the #, though) for about $20.00. Heck of a deal!

New datatypes.library V45.3 available !

Hi !

—-

The new datatypes.library V45.3 is now available in Aminet.

Changes from V45.2:

- Now includes an AREXX function host, with functions like
  EXAMINEDT      - examine file
OBTAINDATATYPE – get datatypes information from ram/file/clipboard
FINDTOOL       – find a tool in a TOOL stem
  LAUNCHTOOL     – launch a tool (Shell/WB/REXX)
GETDTSTRING    - get localized DOS/DataTypes string

- Minor fixes to the library itself (should be more stable…).

- Reference implementation of a picture.datatype subclass (acbm.datatype),
which support saving in it’s local format (required for converters
  like "DTConvert").

- "DTConvert", a datatypes converter, supports
conversion between formats of the same type,
picture   -> picture (like GIF Picture -> ACBM Picture)
animation -> animation (like MPEG Video Animation -> IFF ANIM Animation)
movie     -> movie (like CDXL Movie -> IFF FILM Movie)

Support for sound, text and music is on the way

- and so on…

—-

Bye,
Roland
